Soaring to New Heights

And finding the perfect summer wedge.

OK, before you roll your eyes with a this-is-definitely-nothing-new-or-innovative look, I feel I must explain. I know the wedge has been around for ages, literally, and that everyone worth a lick in the fashion industry (even those that aren't) has created their own version.  However, it must be noted that this retro style comes and goes, again and again and again.  Thus, its repeated prevalence bestows upon it a level of status that few styles, shoe or otherwise, can equal.

And for that reason, I feel that it is, in a way, my duty to share with you some of the amazing wedges I have found available right this minute, as I type this sentence...are you shopping yet?  Because you absolutely should be...
Wedge $1-$200
Top to Bottom, Left to Right: Cork Wedge Heel Shoe (Red), Zara, $90; Black Multi Platform Espadrille, Soda Terani, lulus.com, $29; Gemini (shown in red, other colors available), Kelsi Dagger, designer's website, $99; Raven, Vincent Camuto, Piperlime, $98; Sophie (shown in black/brown, other colors available), Sam Edelman, Shopbop, $120; Lined Wedge (green), Zara, $70; Yellow Neon Linen Wedge, My Delicious Glow, lulus.com, $29; Destin, BCBGMAXAZRIA, designer's website, $195; Katy Bis (shown in black, other color available), Bettye Muller, Zappos, $195; Linya Leather and Satin T-Strap Wedges, Boutique 9, Saks, $140

Current Favorite(s): Sam Edelman Sophie- I own these little gems, and the shorter heel/ankle strap make them sexy and functional.  I pair them with a short black linen skirt and white blouse, but they're also perfect with skinnies or blousy shorts!

Wedge $201-$500
Top to Bottom, L to R: Dulce (gold), BCBGMAXAZRIA, designer's website, $225; Bow Espadrille Wedge, Prada, Bergdorf Goodman, $425; Braided Raffia Leather Espadrilles, Belle by Sigerson Morrison, Saks, $210; Tabia Cork Wedge Pumps, Jean Michel Cazabet, Shopbop, $295; Encore (shown in orange/pink, other colors available); Stuart Weitzman, Piperlime, $385; King (nude, comes in black), Rachel Zoe, Shopbop, $375; Valentine Raffia Leather Wedges, Loeffler Randall, designer's website, $375; Firama Leather Espadrille Wedges, Ralph Lauren Collection, Saks, $395; Suede Espadrille Wedges (coral, comes in gold), DVF, Saks, $210; Cutout Wedge Espadrille, Chloe, Neiman Marcus, $495

Current Favorite: DVF Suede Espadrille wedges- I haven't yet had the pleasure of seeing these on a foot, but I love the coral and nothing beats a good espadrille.  I have a beautiful white linen dress that would suit these just fine.

Wedge $501 Plus
Top to Bottom, L to R: Delphine Mid-Heel Ankle Strap Sandal, Gucci, Neiman Marcus, $675; Rapunzel Raffia Crepe de Chine Wedges, Charlotte Olympia, net-a-porter, $1,495; Leopard Print Pony Hair Leather Wedges, Christian Louboutin, Saks, $695; Slingback Architect Wedge, Reed Krakoff, Neiman Marcus, $795; Leather Buckle Wedges, Chloe, Saks, $795; Alysha Colorblock Suede Platform Pumps, Brian Atwood, Saks, $550; Woven Raffia Printed Wedges, Burberry Prorsum, net-a-porter, $1,095; Couture Bow Two-Tone Leather Wedge, Valentino, Neiman Marcus, $695; Everesta Toile Espadrilles, Christian Louboutin, Neiman Marcus, $625

Current Favorite:  Which to choose?! Either the Gucci Delphine (elegant and sophisticated) or the Burberry Prorsum printed raffia wedges (boho and unbelievable)

Enjoy and happy shopping!
