NM: "The Dramatic Earring: This is no time to think small"
Well said, Neiman Marcus. Typically with jewelry I stick to necklaces and cuffs, but lately I've been noticing the draw of something glitzy and shiny hanging from below my temples. Hair up or hair down, a pair of beautiful, artistic earrings brings all attention to your face. They can add glamour and funk to any outfit, day or night. Current Favorite: It's a toss-up between the Citrine by the Stones Evening Chain earring and the Ann D. Skeletal Bird Feet. Two very different but equally astounding statements!
After all this glamour and elegance, and as big of an advocate as I am of the dramatic earring, I feel that a few words of advice are in order: don't overdo it. An attention-grabbing earring should never be paired with a necklace; wayyyyy too much from the neck up (and one of my personal fashion pet peeves; right on up there with matching designer accessories and muffin top). If you feel a little naked wearing just the earrings, go for a giant cocktail ring or a stack of bangles. In fact I feel that this could even enhance the look (if executed properly). Moreover, in this case bigger does not always mean better! Those ridiculous feathers hanging down to your shoulders? No, thank you. Or voluntarily wearing a chandelier-style piece that looks like it belongs on your dining room ceiling? Try again. If your ear lobe is drooping due to the weight, steer clear.
