OK to begin, I have always kind of been on the fence when it comes to metallic, namely silver, shoes. Done correctly, it can be explosive and glamorous, but throw in some lucite, a ridiculous platform or too much glitter/rhinestones in the wrong places, and WOW (and I do not mean that in the I-would-kill-for-those kind of way; more like "Wow-she-belongs-on-the-corner-with-a-pocket-full-of-singles kind of way). Any fashionista, no matter how tasteful, walks the trashy tightrope when going for silver shoes.
See below (the faint of heart may want to skip the following):
So first order of business, Proceed With Caution
That being said, silver shoes can also be quite chic, elegant even. You just have to know how to pick 'em. A classic stiletto pump is always safe, and a dark pewter tends to stay on the classier side of things. Overall, when you work with a beautiful shoe style/structure, chances are the silver sheen will do nothing but light it up! Finally, if you do decide to go the silver route below the ankles, do not (and I repeat DO NOT) add metallics anywhere else, except for maybe some jewelry. To entice you, a few pieces from my personal shoe arsenal:
Clockwise: Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Elizabeth and James
Now the moment you all have been waiting for, some of my personal picks from what's hot and what's out there right now. I must say, some of these designers have done me proud....

Current Favorite: Christian Louboutin Spiked Hell- Good God! I mean, it just speaks for itself. You've done it again, sir. Found the perfect silver with the perfect statement detail.
So I think the moral of this story is to go just metallic enough to get noticed. Stick with an elegant style to ensure that level of class that silver can singlehandedly destroy.
Enjoy!
