YELL REBEL YELL

West coast-style, affordable, comfy tees? YES PLEASE! This playful, vintage inspired clothing line is an obvious purchase for me whenever I come across a new graphic that catches my eye (ahem, often). With most pieces residing in the $50-$70 price range, this line makes for guilty-free purchases. I am head over heels in love with any line that has that "worn-in" feel AND appeal, and Rebel Yell simply nails both. As this brand is so on par with my style, I love the look of throwing on one of their tanks with distressed jeans or cut-offs + heels and calling it a night. That’s my kinda outfit. For a totally different spin, these easy-to style tanks and tees can effortlessly be dressed up with a chic, colorful blazer and mini skirt as well.

Still not convinced? Here’s a brief bio pulled from the Rebel Yell website that makes me fall even more deeply in love with this brand:

“Rebel Yell is a boutique lifestyle brand that reflects the nostalgia of a childhood spent in the glory days of the late 70’s & early 80s. The inspiration for the line comes from the Ballard siblings' rowdy, "all-American" childhood growing up in Virginia and Southern California, giving the brand an authentic and casual west coast feel combined more traditional, vintage, American athletic themes associated with the great U.S. of A.
Raised by a fashion-loving folk/rock musician mom, and a good ol' boy guitar-playing father - the Ballard's style and cultural influences started young. There was never a shortage of inspiring fashion, art and music around the house when they were growing up. With the classic rock greats they were raised on echoing through their design studio, they set out to create a collection reminiscent of the clothing they grew up with: Kick-ass, worn-in to perfection and all things vintage.”

Beach Bum

In just a few days, I am off to Southern Florida for a long vacation in which I will become "one with the ocean." Okay, so that might be taking it a bit far...however, there is something so enchanting, inspiring, and blissful to me as soon as I step foot on a beach. The sight and sound of the ocean immediately brings me to a state in which I feel completely centered. I anticipate any vacation, but this one I am particularly looking forward to- so I can think...reflect...recharge. Sometimes it just takes getting away for a while to do so.
While I am zen-ing away in Florida I will of course be taking endless pictures to share when I return...and will hopefully come back with some sense of direction in my life...just perhaps?! Still waiting for the universe to shift me in the direction I need to be heading... ;)  Below are some pictures I felt beach-insprired by as well as a look into my beach tote! Happy Tuesday!

ps this is how I shall be signing my posts from here on out as I recently realized that x's and o's have made their way on my personal over-it list. {translates to "peace and love"}

Greenery

I absolutely L-O-V-E all the green (totally necessary) that is sprouting earlier than usual due to this amaze weather. It is in the 80's today in Cincy... Seriously?! It's kind of throwing me all out of sorts as I keep thinking that it's June ...but nope, it's still March... I'm pretty sure I can get over that though. Speaking of green, there was a whole lot of that (and some) around on Saturday for good ol' St. Patrick's Day. As my sis-in-law was in town, and we are not exactly "beer drinkers," we decided to take a non-traditional approach to celebrating the "holiday" by sipping on champagne and wine all.night.long.  I am totally cool with the color-of-the-day on St. Patty's as green is hmm...probably in my top three fav colors. So, Steph & I dressed in green and hit the local OTR bars....and of course had gobs of fun (per usual). Check out the rando-collection of green-filled pics from the weekend. Happy humpity-hump day. Oh, and I have some awesome news to share at the end of the week that I am insanely excited about... I suggest checkin' in on Friday.  xx-A-

ps.. if my hair looks longer, that's because it is. Craziest thing- I woke up one morning and it had grown ten inches....

So tuff

Zoooooom, went the weekend. While some kind of sinus/allergy/congestion has me feeling a bit blah on this dreary Monday, I know my new z-pak will soon win this match (so long, farewell, on-going-4-week-cold).... And this may be the first Monday in a LONG time that I have actually felt excitement... because my one and only sister (technically "in-law" but in reality (my reality), she's my legit sister) is coming to visit me this week! Smiles all around. Lot's of fun things planned for our weekend together #threemoresleeps. This past weekend was filled with some "takin' it easy" time, grabbing din downtown and as always, boppin' around our 'hood de O.T.R.  Crowds of people have been filling the neighborhood lately, which is pretty cool to be a part of.... although finding a seat at one of our go-to  bars now requires some strategy and planning ahead (we are currently testing & analyzing patterns of crowd-overload times).... Oh, and a new Nikon cam has been welcomed into my life, to support my new-found-love of photography (who would have thought?!) Hope this week of crazy-good weather allows for a fun & enjoyable Springy week. xxo- A-

Weekend: WEARwhere

The weekend (as I think is the case for most everyone) is undoubtedly my favorite time of the week.... I truly love exploring my ever-growing neighborhood... it continues to amaze me, the growth and change that is taking place right outside my building... and I always seem to feel immediately revitalized and complete when I am able to spend time with wonderful friends & family. These past few days included a delightful combination of these things....what makes me craving the upcoming weekend the moment the previous one ends... (ugh, Monday, we we really need to reconcile our differences at some point). Both nights, the boy and I caught up with wonderful people in our blooming 'hood.... so many places to check out in OTR.... I highly recommend putting it in your future plans. Showing two of our closest friends around the neighborhood on Saturday (prospective neighbors!!!) allowed me to truly take in all that has emerged in this area lately...amaze. On Sunday afternoon, we celebrated my most favorite, special & in-style  lil' gal's  bday...which happens to fall on leap day.... I'm pretty sure she should be a child model. Happy start to a fresh new week full of beautiful moments to be made! xx- A-

REBEL against THE RULES

Lately I have been yearning to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe.... Before doing so, I stopped to remind myself that I do not have that money tree growing outside my condo that I so wish I had (in fact the greenery is quite scarce in the city so to find a tree for starters- WITH money growing upon it -would truly be a miracle). So, I decided to take a glance through my closet (enter anxiety- need to do some serious organizing). I often just throw on a random collection of layers, regardless of the season in which they were intended for- I practically live in American Apparrel dresses year round. This time I decided to take things a step further...so I whipped out denim shorts + WHITE (yes, white, gasp) items and threw some random tights &  jackets to mix in and voila, new outfits were born. My thought during this process was that the "No White After Labor Day" rule is TRULY ridiculous. While the exact origins of this rule of etiquette are not necessarily established, the info I skimmed over via google (bam, research incorporated in the blog) suggests that this rule is mainly attributed to a distinction of social class dating back to the early- mid 20th century (upper class + resort wear). I'm choosing to side with Coco Chanel on this one, who made white pieces a part of her year-round wardrobe. Yikes...I have really wandered along here....The point in all of this is that I am a huge fan of incorporating typical "warmer climate" clothing throughout the seasons, as long as appropriate layering measures are considered. It's fun and unexpected, and white looks so bold contrasted against black. So...out come my denim shorts, white mini dress, and maxi dresses. In attempt to get this blog to become more interactive going forward, please feel free to voice YOUR OPINION on all of this... in fact, it is GREATLY ENCOURAGED. ***My intention with this blog was to not just voice my own perspective but rather to gather a collection of perspectives- so please join the conversation!*** xo

WEEKEND WEARS

Hello dear readers...hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Mine was quite enjoyable... spent some time with the man  in OTR Friday and had an awesome date Saturday with one of my most favorite people- I heart you Mere- followed by an incredible bday party for the lovely Duru (owner of Sloane). I always love hangin' with this gal (Meredith)  as we have a weird amount of things in common and her sense of style is truly legit. She has a incredible eye for vintage finds which you will frequently find incorporated in her chic outfits. We had  sincerely essential convos over delish wine and plate loads of food at Cumin- Y U M. Anywho.. I have included some style pics from the weekend that I hope you will enjoy.  I obviously thought  wearing sky-high heels Saturday as the entire city was covered in a thick sheet of ice was a TERRIFIC idea....and as a result, COMPLETELY bit it later that night, and my right leg is now a lovely shade of purple & blue. ALSO....I have some seriously exciting ideas for posts to come and am planning to start capturing ootd (outfits of the day) as often as possible....whenever my "photographer" is available (best. fiance.ever.)

ps... after SEVERAL (urgh)  failed attempts, I finally produced a somewhat decent looking friendship bracelet which I have chosen not to include a picture of because it may look like it was done by a very young child. Will feature once I have mastered the skillllz ( yes, that again was an intentional typo...eh hem Adam).
HAPPY MONDAY! xo
